ILLUSTRATION EXHIBITION – FORREST & FRIENDS
NOW UNTIL WEDNESDAY 26TH APRIL – COME SEE
LIMITED EDITION HAND-PRINTED SCREEN-PRINTS
I was born and brought up in Forest Gate and am really proud of where I am from. I was really excited to be asked to show my work, but always find this a bit nerve racking. This is because the prints that I am exhibiting are drawings from my sketchbook, which is my visual diary.
I became interested in illustration by accident when studying my undergraduate degree in graphic design. Until then, I never knew much about illustration, or that I could even draw. Once I started putting ink to paper, I paid attention to detail but still was unapologetic about how my illustrations formed. I get into a flow without really having a vision for the finished piece or how I'm going to use my space, I just trust my abilities and enjoy creating a story.
What I love most about illustrating is being able to have the ability to turn my work into pieces of art that others can enjoy. I adore screen-printing. It is a real labour of love as each piece of work printed goes through a vigorous manual screen-printing process, you could say that the drawing is the easy part. Most of my work is really limited keeping each piece of art that extra bit special. All of my work is printed on Fabriano 5 paper, which is 50% cotton and 50% woodpulp mix, and acid free.
I really hope you enjoy viewing my exhibition; the prints are all available to purchase. I am also available for freelance commissions for anything from personalised cards, baby announcements, wedding invitations or just a quick doodle of something.
